I have 33 years of combined experience in education and journalism.
As an educator, I have 15 years of experience teaching English Literature and Language in both national (ICSE, ISC) and international (IB) curricula. I served as Head of Languages at The Cathedral and John Connon School, Mumbai, from 2018 to 2022, where I helped establish the IBDP curriculum and processes. I assess IBDP Board papers for English A Language and Literature, as well as Extended Essays. I was honored with the Outstanding Educator Award by the University of Chicago in 2019.
I have 18 years of experience in journalism, including roles as Senior Assistant Editor of Mumbai Mirror and Principal Correspondent at The Times of India. I've published over 3,500 articles across multiple publications and currently run a blog on education for The Times of India called "Saved by the Bell."
I received the Katha Translation Award for translating a short story from Bengali to English in an All-India Open Contest organised by Katha Foundation and The British Council, in 1997.
I've written multiple books for children, including books on Indian History, World History, and a retelling of Chanakya's story, all published by Mango Books. I continue to create teaching resources for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Organisation and conduct workshops on creative thinking and communication skills.

This workshop was conducted for a group of students from Grades IX to XII. Ms. Banerjee accented upon methodologies and mental exercises to aid students and learners of language to amplify creative thought and expression. She carried out a series of activities that effectively compelled the attendees to think out of the box, and explore various dimensions of creative thinking. Ms. Banerjee also shared her expert insights and learnings from years of experience as a journalist, author and educator.
